Marissa Meyer got her start writing fanfiction for the popular magic-girl anime Sailor Moon, and she thinks it’s kind of amazing that there is now fanfic based on her own books. She also loves Firefly, any occasion where she gets to wear a costume, and tell-ing people the little-known gory versions of Grimm’s fairy tales. She lives in Tacoma with her husband and three cats. She may or may not be a cyborg.

2014 Workshop: Old Tale, New Twist
Fairy tales, mythology, classic literature – our world is full of iconic and memorable stories, and those stories often provide fodder for writers who want to create something that’s entirely their own. In this workshop, we’ll talk about brainstorming techniques, how to play around with reader expectations, and different strategies for giving new life to old tales.
“Marissa Meyers was my favorite because I felt like she was really fixed on interacting with the kids. I love that! Plus, the class helped my creativity flow.” ~EMS student
